WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The crowds were huge for the Inaugural Ceremony and they sure made a mess with all that partying. Now it's time to restore order to the nation's capital.
WUSA 9's Delia Goncalves reported from the National Mall with more on the effort.
Most of the trash was bagged up and put in dumpsters Tuesday morning. Ten thousand panels and 1,000 port-a-potties were left to haul out along with metal fencing barricades.
An estimated 800,000 people attended the Inauguration. In 2009, the record crowd of 1.8 million left behind 130 tons of garbage.
