WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Tavis Smiley will appear at George Washington University on Thursday for an event called "A Future Without Poverty."
Just days before the Inauguration he's bringing together a bi-partisan dream team of national figures to call on the White House to take a long hard look at poverty in our nation. Smiley wants to cut the poverty numbers in half in 10 years and eradicate poverty in 25 years.
Watch him discuss more about the event and his ambitious goal he's working on with people such as Newt Gingrich and Michael Moore in the video above.
A Future Without Poverty takes place Thursday from 6:30 p.m.to 9 p.m at George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium (730 21st St. NW, Washington, D.C.). You can attend for free.
