WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- We've got an update on amazing teen, who has defied the odds.

Nick Balenger is back to school.

He's the Lake Braddock High school baseball player, paralyzed in a tragic diving accident over the summer.

He was told he would never walk again, but he proved everyone wrong.

In October, Balenger received a baseball medal. At the ceremony, he stood up and took a few steps.

His medical bills are mounting and this weekend there's a benefit to help his family.

It's Sunday night at National Cathedral School.

There's a six course dinner and silent auction that includes everything from trips to flying lessons, even a package that the Nationals have donated.
