WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA9) - The Secret Service is telling D.C. Council members and the Mayor that if they want to drive their vehicles, families and friends to the John Wilson Building (city hall) for the Inaugural Parade later this month, they will have to get there a lot earlier than in past years.

How about four hours earlier? Some of the city legislators are fuming because the Secret Service says that for President Obama's second inaugural parade, the rules have changed. The city's elected leaders must have their vehicles inside the secure zone on Pennsylvania avenue by 6 a.m.

That's eight hours before the start of the parade. For the last two Inaugurals, the Secret Service has made exceptions for the D.C. officials.

The Mayor and Council members and their guests can watch the parade from their own viewing stand which is enclosed and heated in front of the Wilson building at 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue.
