GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA) - Three people have been injured, one gravely, in two separate collisions involving pedestrians on Monday evening, according to Montgomery County Police.
At about 6:30 p.m., an adult male was struck by a car on Wisteria Drive north of Rte. 118 in Germantown. The victim was taken to an area hospital in very serious condition, police said. The driver involved remained at the scene and is assisting with the investigation, according to police.
Police said that the pedestrian was crossing Wisteria Drive from East to West and was struck in the northbound lanes outside the crosswalk. The pedestrian's identity had not been confirmed but investigators believe he is an Hispanic male in his 30's.
The driver of the vehicle, a white 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, is identified as 51-year-old Ousmane Seydi of the 13600 block of Winterspoon Lane in Germantown.
The pedestrian remains in grave condition at a local hospital.
In a separate incident at about 8:40 p.m., two pedestrians were hit by a car on Rte. 355 and O'Neil St. in Gaithersburg. The driver of the striking car remained at the scene, where the adult female victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The male victim, also an adult, went through the windshield of the car. He is still being extricated from the car as of 10 p.m., and his condition is not known, police said.
