(WUSA) -- 9 Sports reporter Kristen Berset reports that Ravens players Ray Lewis has announced he's retiring at the end of this season.
The linebacker has played 17 seasons in the NFL. According to ESPN, Lewis said, "It is time for me to create a new legacy."
Lewis has participated in 13 Pro Bowls, was named first-team All-Pro seven times and was voted NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice, according to ESPN.
The 37-year-old tore his triceps two months ago and returned to practice in early December.
Sunday could be his last game.
