FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WUSA) - Three victims have been identified in a traffic crash that happened on Thursday evening when a pickup truck rear-ended a stopped tractor-trailer at the Springfield Interchange of I-495 and I-95, according to Virginia State Police.
According to officials, all three occupants of the pickup truck including 87-year-old Peter Stesney Jr., 85-year-old Bernice Supinski, and 51-year-old Laura Kordelski died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.
Officials say all three were related and traveling to Florida for a relative's funeral.
The I-495 flyover ramp to I-95 south was closed to all traffic, but re-opened shortly after 3 a.m. Friday, police said.
The crash is currently under investigation.
