DENVER (KUSA) - IBM says cognitive computing is the future. The workers say it will change the way we work, live and play in the next five years.

Dr. Bernie Meyerson, vice president of innovation for IBM, explained what cognitive computing is.

According to Meyerson, it means computers will start to learn the same way the human brain does, meaning a cognitive system could use smell to keep you healthy by learning from the scents in your environment or even detect potential diseases.

In the coming years, IBM suspects a smartphone may be able to simulate the feeling of touch. Meyerson explained how this could change online shopping trends.
