SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) -- Hopefully, you spent the holiday with loved ones. One family in Silver Spring couldn't do that this Christmas, and they called us to see if we could help.
It's been a week, and Jessica Cavegn of Silver Spring has tried everything to get the family's cat our of a tree. Cats have been getting stuck in trees as long as we have had cats and we have had trees. But when it's your cat, and you have 3 small children, and it's Christmas...
"Well, I mean, I'm an animal lover, I'm a vegetarian, I love animals so he's like, I love him..." Jessica Cavegn sobbed.
See to Cavegn, the cat is part of the family. He's a family member, a year-and-a half old Siamese named Cosmo in need. Cavegn's tried it all.
She told us, "We've actually had the fire department out twice."
And they have tried putting tuna down at the bottom of the tree every day as well as rigging a pulley over a limb to pull a bucket up to him. They tried that all day Saturday.
"We called tree companies to see if a tree person could come up they want almost $500," added Cavegn.
The whole neighborhood's getting worried and Cavegn is just trying to keep it together.
She tells us, "He's the sweetest cat. They can carry him around all day. He's never mean. He's the sweetest little kitty in the world."
