Democrat Daniel Inouye, the U.S. Senate's most senior member and a Medal of Honor recipient for his bravery during World War II, has died. He was 88.
WASHINGTON (WUSA) - The Washington National Cathedral will hold a memorial service for Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI) on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
Bishop of Washington, Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, will officiate and the retired Rear Admiral Barry C. Black, the Senate chaplain, will deliver the sermon. Others to honor the life of Sen. Inouye include Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid; Hon. Eric Shinseki, Secretary of Veterans Affairs; and House Speaker John Boehner.
Sen. Inouye served in Congress since Hawaii became a state in 1959 and was one of the most senior U.S. senators. The memorial will be broadcasted live at www.nationalcathedral.org.
