FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) - A Frederick teenager was shot in the chest Wednesday afternoon after an altercation with another teenager, according to police spokesperson.
The 16-year-old male victim apparently went to the home of a 17-year old and the two got into an altercation in the front yard of a home in the 300 block of Hillcrest Drive, police said. The 17-year-old male suspect took out a small caliber handgun and threatened to shoot the 16-year-old. The weapon fired, striking the 16-year-old in the chest. Police responded to the home at 4:38 p.m. and found the boy with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma with serious but not life threatening injuries, police said.
The 17 year old suspect is in custody and will be charged as an adult on reckless endangerment and discharge of a weapon in the city, police said. Other charges are still being determined
