WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The winter college graduation season is underway and new graduates have the hope of finding a job quickly. But how realistic is that?

A May Rutgers University study shows that over the last five years, only 51 percent of graduates from four-year college programs hold full time positions.

Those who graduated between 2006 and 2011 make an average of $3,000 less than their peers who entered the market in 2008. Making matters worse, students are graduating with a record level of debt -- an average of $27,000 per person.

Career Doctor Cassi Fields, president and CEO of Limited Exposure Theory, joined us to shed some light and hope on the situation.
