Nicole Woo of the Center For Economic and Policy Research in Washington, D.C., says Advertisers Are Making Money From Fiscal Cliff Campaigns

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA)-- Only in America would a crisis about money, make money! The "Fiscal Cliff" is being used as a marketing tool for advertisers to cash in, according to one economist. 

Nicole Woo is the Director of Domestic Policy at the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington D.C.

According to Woo, "Some groups are getting very creative with their commercials and their ads, in order to get their point across," and that means someone is making money from the public campaigns. 

She added, "The people making the money are the advertisers"

This isn't the first time impending doom has made big bucks. Remember Y2k? How about anti-terror campaigns following 9-11?

Woo says scare tactics are creating lucrative revenue streams by those wanting to sway you in one direction or another on the "Fiscal Cliff" issue. 

She said, "It's kind of the American way, but it's not very good for democracy."
