CHAPEL OAKS, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County police say that a teen has been charged with attempted first degree murder for shooting a 16-year-old boy on Tuesday in Chapel Oaks.
Derrick Anthony Wills is accused of walking up to the victim and demanding his phone. When the victim refused, Wills then reportedly shot the victim in the arm. Police say Wills got away with the boy's cell phone.
The victim was found shot in the 1200 block of Nye Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, and later released.
Thursday, detectives followed leads to 50th and Nash streets in Northeast DC. Police say they found Wills with the victim's cell phone, as well as the gun used in the crime.
Wills is being charged as an adult with faces attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, theft and armed robbery.
He is being held in jail without bond.
