MT. RAINIER, Md (WUSA) - Invasive bamboo has turned Mt. Rainier into the most overgrown community in Maryland, according to some overwhelmed residents.

Now the city is considering a ban on planting bamboo, or allowing the tenacious invader to spread to a neighbor's property.

If passed, Mt Rainier would join College Park which already has a bamboo ban.   Residents there can be fined up to $200 for allowing bamboo to spread to a neighbor's property.
