GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA) - A gas line that was ruptured by either a construction or service crew in Gaithersburg resulted in the evacuation of the Marriott Springhill Suites in the 9700 block of Washingtonian Blvd., according to a Montgomery County Fire Dept. spokesman.
The gas leak at about 4 p.m. forced more than a dozen residents out of the buildings. Washington Gas is on the scene to repair the leak.
Fire officials say the gas line was next to other utility lines which made it easier for the gas to enter other buildings at the location and escape out through manholes.
There is no ETA for completion of repairs at this time.
