LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA) - Aaron Thomas, 41, the so-called East Coast Rapist, pleaded guilty to raping and abducting a then-41 year old woman more than a decade ago.
The victim, who is now 52, was tied up, raped, sodomized and threatened with a screwdriver in 2001.
Thomas is accused of attacking and raping more than a dozen women up and down the east coast from Virginia to Rhode Island since the mid 90s.
Thomas was captured last year after a nationwide manhunt. After his arrest he admitted to raping the 41-year-old woman 11 years ago in her Leesburg apartment, telling police he worked as a driver for an Alexandria lumber company and attacked the woman after a delivery to her apartment building.
She sat in the courthouse for Thursday's plea deal, and the Commonwealth's Attorney thanked her for her courage.
Commonweath's Attorney Jim Plowman says 'we don't want her to relive the ordeal. This is about accountability and the step today moves the ball down the field.'
Thomas is expected to plead guilty on Friday in Prince William County to attacking and abducting three teenage trick-or-treaters on Halloween night in 2009.
Each count carries a life sentence.
