WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The Powerball jackpot is now $500 million, Maryland Lottery officials announced Tuesday.
The announcement came after there were reports Monday of the jackpot potentially reaching $425 million.
Officials say the jackpot cash value is now $327 million. The $500 million jackpot is the largest Powerball jackpot since the game started in 1992.
The largest Powerball jackpot ever won came in 2006 when a $365 million prize was claimed by eight co-workers in Nebraska.
The next Powerball drawing will take place on Wednesday, November 28 at 11:22 p.m..
