WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Tuesday, a D.C. man was sentenced to 120 days in jail for killing a six-month-old puppy in June.

Twenty-four-year-old Sean Delontay Branch pleaded guilty in September to a charge of felony cruelty to animals.

Branch killed the puppy, named King Tut, because he was mad at its owner, say officials. On June 29, King Tut was tied to a fence behind a store in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road NE in D.C. and its owner had walked away. Branch then went up to the dog, which was sleeping, and dropped a 90 pound cement slab on it.

King Tut's owner was notified by a witness about what happened to his dog. The owner discovered the dog was dead when he went to the location.

Branch will be placed on three years of supervised release after his jail time. He will also have to pay $450 to a crime victims' fund and meet certain conditions, such as learning how to handle his anger.
