WASHINGTON (WUSA) - A woman is in critical, but stable condition after she was hit by a car backing up in a parking lot in Glen Burnie, Md. on Monday, November 19, police say.
At around 1:17 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in a parking lot at 7514 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, Md..
Officers say the pedestrian, Stacy Lynn Barracato, 43 of Pasadena, was struck by a 2000 GMC Pickup that was backing up in the parking lot. The pedestrian then became lodged under the truck, police say.
Investigators from the Traffic Safety Section say that the driver of the car and a citizen pulled the pedestrian out from under the truck, began CPR, and called emergency services.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department Paramedics took the victim to University of Maryland Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries, where she is listed in critical, but stable condition.
Preliminary investigation shows improper backing as a possible contributing factor in this collision, but doesn't show that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
