WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Nine teens have been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing of 18-year-old, Olijawon Griffin, which happened early Saturday morning at the Woodley Park Metro.
Of the nine arrested, 17-year-old, Chavez Myers, of District Heights, Md., was charged as an adult on Monday. Myers faces second degree murder while armed and assault with a dangerous weapon charges on the basis of his confession that he stabbed Griffin in self-defense. Myers will be held without bond pending a hearing on Nov. 30 before Judge Ronna L. Beck in D.C. Superior Court at 9:30 a.m.
In court documents released on Monday, police say Myers confessed to stabbing Griffin in self-defense even though police say surveillance video inside the Metro shows Myers come up behind Olijawon Griffin, and stab him as he was fist fighting another teenager unarmed.
