WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Metro spokesperson Dan Stessel has confirmed the source of the "track obstruction" reported on the Red Line on Thursday morning that forced trains to single track between Glenmont and Wheaton.
Stessel says a fiber optic cable needs to be cleared from one of the two tracks. According to Stessel, because the single track area is at the end of the line it's not causing much of a delay. He says there are interlockings for trains to cross over between tracks at Glenmont and Wheaton.
Crews are securing the cable on the tracks.
