BROOKLYN PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- Monday afternoon, police started investigating an assault on a woman reported by a friend and later charged the woman's boyfriend with attempted murder.
Anne Arundel County police say on Monday at approximately 12:30 p.m., an officer in the area of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park was approached by a man who told him his friend was in a confrontation with her boyfriend earlier that day and may need some help.
Officers then went to an apartment to check on the well-being of the woman. She indicated to officers that her boyfriend had assaulted earlier in the morning in a wooded area behind the 6000 block of Ritchie Highway.

The woman and her boyfriend had been staying there when they reportedly got into an argument. Police say her boyfriend, later identified as 29-year-old Louis Vaden, assaulted her and dragged her through a bonfire. The woman was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
Officers found Vaden later that night in the 6000 block of Ritchie Highway. He was taken into custody and charged with attempted first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault and other charges.
