MARYLAND CITY, Md. (WUSA) -- Police say a Walmart employee was shot Wednesday morning in the 3500 block of Russet Green after a man robbed him. Anne Arundel County have released photos of the robber taken from surveillance footage.
Anne Arundel County police say that officers responded to the story at approximately 4:17 a.m. Their preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect entered the store, approached the 28-year-old victim and demanded money. The employee gave the suspect the money but was then forced outside and shot in the parking lot. The suspect then fled.
Anne Arundel County Fire personnel evaluated and transported the victim, who suffered a serious but not life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body, to the Prince George's Trauma Center.
Police did not identify the man but a Walmart employee says the victim of the store was a manager who workers call Mr. Ali.
Police also say that a few minutes later, they received a call about a vehicle that was on fire. After arriving at the scene, which was near the Walmart, police believe it may have been used by the suspect in the shooting. Police did not give a description of the vehicle.
The suspect has been described as a white male with a dark mask, black pants, black jacket and a gray or white sweatshirt with a hood. He has not yet been found.
The robber was described as a white male wearing a black jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and he displayed a handgun. He fled in a dark-colored van.
