MEEKER, Co. (KUSA) -- The tree that will light up the grounds of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. this year is coming from Colorado.
The capitol tree will be cut down just outside Meeker, where you will find Dan Schwartz and the Ripple Creek Lodge, a place surrounded by trees and lots of peace and quit.
"[It] typically is real quite around here," Schwartz said.
That's changing, at least for a day, because Schwartz and his lodge is about to gain national exposure.
"It's like winning the lottery," Schwartz said.

It's all thanks to a special tree that will soon be standing bright and tall in front of the capital building in Washington D.C.
The tree will begin its journey to the nation's capitol Friday.
Most of the cost surrounding the tree gets absorbed by volunteers and donations from sponsors like Mack truck, which donates several trucks and the fuel need to get the tree to D.C.
