Hurricane Sandy Prompts D.C. Taxicabs To Issue Emergency Fare Rate

WASHINGTON (WUSA) - Due to severe weather and a state of emergency declared in D.C. by Mayor Gray, emergency fare rates are now underway for D.C. Taxicabs.

During this emergency fare period, D.C. Taxicabs are authorized to add the emergency flat rate of $15 per trip for cabs in the district to the final metered fare.

This emergency fare period automatically expires on Tuesday at 12 p.m. unless cancelled sooner. The emergency fare rate may be extended for an additional fixed period if severe weather conditions persist.
