ANNANDALE, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax County Police are investigating an early morning crash in Annandale that has left one person dead.

Police say the single-vehicle collision happened on Backlick Road (Rt. 617) between John Marr Drive and Little River Turnpike around 2:18 Thursday morning. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Backlick Road was closed in the area of the crash for several hours, but has now reopened.
