Dearious Davis Accused Of Headbutting Police Officer During Arrest For Assault, Destruction Of Property, Public Intoxication

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) -- A 25-year-old man faces a slew of charges after allegedly headbutting a police officer during his arrest last Friday.

According to Manassas City Police, Dearious Davis of Sumerduck, Va. is charged with felony destruction of property, misdemeanor destruction of property, simple assault & battery, assault & battery of a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and public intoxication following the incident on Oct. 19.

Police say officers went to the 9300 block of Taney Road at approximately 5 p.m. for the report of a vandalism in progress. Officers were told that a man was walking in the road and kicking cars. They were also told the man assaulted a driver.

An officer was able to identify the man as Davis and told him he was under arrest.  Authorities say Davis, who appeared intoxicated, resisted arrest and the officer used a Taser on him. 

Officers were trying to put him into the cruiser when he then allegedly headbutted one of them. The officer was not injured.

Davis is being held without bond until his court date on Nov. 13.
