WHITE PLAINS, Md. (WUSA) -- Charles County authorities say that a driver may have been under the influence of alcohol before an accident Monday night on northbound Route 301 at Jaybee Lane.
According to police, Kurt Bratholt of Waldorf was driving northbound on Route 301 when a Mack truck tractor, driven by Ricky Mallow, was trying to make a U turn from the crossover stationary on southbound Route 301 to northbound 301. Authorities say that's when Bratholt turned into the turn lane for the crossover and hit the truck tractor. It came to rest against the guardrail.
Bratholt suffered non life-threatening injuries and was transported to Prince George's Shock Trauma via Medivac. Mallow was not injured.
A trooper later determined that Bratholt was driving under the influence, say authorities, and charges are pending.
