(WUSA) --  If you own a smart phone you already realize, it's the wave of the future. Whether you want news, weather, directions, google or games, there's an app for that.

Well, students at Springbrook High School aren't just good at using those apps. They are building them.

Whether it's Gravity Ninja or Mackerel teens at Springbrook High School in Silver Spring already know how to build apps and it's not just an exercise in class to learn the C# programming language.

Some of the students in Mr. Yongpradit's class are already making money from their creative programming. The work we saw is already on the Microsoft app store. But the students say their work isn't done yet. They want to making waiting for the school bus in bad weather a thing of the past.

"It's an app product that uses GPS to track the bus to tell you exactly when it's going to be at your stop. It's also going to help you find your bus stop because you know sometimes you get lost, and hopefully it's going to solve the problem of having to wait too long or coming too late," explained 10th grader Issac Gracealny.

The students have also come up with a one minute sales pitch to convince potential investors.

So the next time you see your teen engrossed in a smartphone app, remember: if they channel that passion it could lead to their future.
