BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA) - BGR The Burger Joint initiated its 2012 Presidential Burger Competition with burgers inspired by President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
The President Obama burger has "a signature BGR patty topped with a Chicago 'Vienna Beef' hot dog with neon green relish and sport peppers." The Gov. Romney Burger includes "a nod to New England surf and turf which includes a signature BGR patty topped with Lobster and hollandaise."
As of Monday, BGR founder Mark Bucher said that the Obama burger is winning with 688 purchases. A total of 542 customers have purchased the Gov. Mitt Romney burger.
However, in two "key" election states the numbers seem to favor Mitt Romney:
Florida: Romney 116 Obama 110
Virginia: Romney 226 Obama 209
The burgers will be on sale through Election Day.
