WASHINGTON (WUSA) - The HOV lane from I-66 to I-495 north on the Capital Beltway Inner Loop will be closed on or about Oct. 12 after the morning rush, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
"The crews will perform paving, striping and installation of roadway delineators in order to reopen the ramp by the end of this year as a new dedicated 495 Express Lanes ramp," VOT said in a press release.
HOV-drivers traveling on I-66 east can access I-495 north by exiting I-66 from the rate land, taking the flyover ramp that will merge onto I-495 from the right lane. Traffic messages will be on display to help commuters find alternate routes. According to VOT, delays are to be expected in the area for several weeks.
