East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - New York Jets wide receiver Santonio
Holmes left Sunday's game against the San Francisco with an apparent left knee
injury early in the fourth quarter.
Holmes was hurt after making a short catch on the initial play of the final
period. He immediately fell to the ground without being contacted and let go
of the ball, which 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers promptly returned for a 51-
yard touchdown that gave San Francisco a 24-0 lead.
The seventh-year veteran was unable to put any weight on his left leg and was
carted off the field.
The Jets had already entered the contest without fellow starting receiver
Stephen Hill as well as tight end Dustin Keller, both of whom were declared
inactive with hamstring injuries.
