ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA) -- A man is still in critical condition after being hit by a car Saturday morning in Arlington.

Arlington County Police say the pedestrian accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. as the 27-year-old male was crossing Clarendon Boulevard near North Highland Street.

Tyler Bruce Willis, 22 of Bowie, Md., was driving the vehicle and has been charged with DUI and DUI maiming. He is being held without bond. The charges may change depending on the condition of the victim, said Dustin Sternbeck Arlington County Police PIO.

The victim, of Collinsville, Va., has a fractured skull, two fractured legs, a broken arm and several lacerations to his face and body. He is currently being treated at George Washington University Hospital and has undergone multiple surgeries. Monday, Arlington County police said that the victim was in a medically-induced coma due to the swelling of his brain.

According to police, a friend of the victim that was at the incident was able to notify family members.

Unconfirmed accounts by witnesses indicated that Willis was driving at a relatively high speed and that the victim was not on the crosswalk, police said.
