WASHINGTON (WUSA) -The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that there is a 9 percent increase in traffic deaths in the first half of 2012.
Over 16,000 people died in traffic crashes from January to June of 2012 according to a report, which is the largest number of traffic deaths during the first half of a year since 1975.
The report released by NHTSA shows that the number of car miles traveled increased by 15.6 billion miles in the first six months of 2012 , which is an increase from last year as well.
With the weekend coming up, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration would like drivers to know that there is more traffic on the road and to be careful.
