WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The man who killed a 6-month-old puppy while it was sleeping by dropping a 100-pound cement block on its head has plead guilty, U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. informed in a press release.
On June 27, 24-year-old Sean Delontay Branch saw the puppy, King Tut, tied to a fence behind the Circle Seven Express store located at the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road in NE D.C. According to the press release, Branch was angry at the puppy's owner and proceeded to drop the cement block on the sleeping puppy's head when he saw the owner walk away. A passerby saw the incident and promptly informed the owner, who returned and found King Tut dead.
Branch has been charged with felony cruelty to animals and is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 27. He faces a maximum of five years in prison and/or a $25,000 dollar fine.
