(WUSA) -- The Orange and Blue Metro train lines experienced delays on Monday morning due to the report of a low hanging wire.
Crews were investigating the issue inside a tunnel and trains were single tracking between Federal Center SW and Eastern Market. In addition, several trains were offloaded and sent back in the opposite direction, in Metro's words " for schedule, congestion reduction."
The trains are no longer single tracking and Metro tweeted that the "Earlier low-hanging wire resolved." It noted that there would be "residual delays."
Metro apologized for the morning mess with this tweet: "Appreciate the patience on this rough start to the day for Blue/Orange. Sorry for any inconvenience. Have a great day!"
