CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. (WUSA) -- Maryland fire marshals say the back deck of a Calvert County house caught on fire on Thursday shortly before 1 a.m., causing $10,000 in damage. They believe the cause of the fire was incendiary and have labeled it an arson.

The owner of the home in the 3800 block of 10th Street in Chesapeake Beach noticed smoke entering the house. He went to see where it was coming from and discovered the rear deck was on fire.

Fourteen firefighters responded to the scene and got the blaze under control in about a minute. Fire officials say the fire was contained to the outside of the house.

They are hoping someone may have information about the suspected arson. If you have information, please call the State Fire Marshal's Office at 443-550-6835.
