WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - The 800 block of Southern Avenue NE remains closed after a shooting involving Prince George's County police.
The incident took place at 800 Southern Ave NE on the borderline between Prince George's County and D.C. late Tuesday night.
Police say the gunman was randomly firing into the air and became confrontational when officers asked him to drop his weapon. He then fired shots and officers fired back.
No officers were hurt, but the suspect was injured and taken to the hospital. He was in critical condition.
Intersections at Southern and Wheeler, and Southern and Chesapeake Street SE were closed for the police investigation.
Two officers are on leave while police investigate the case.
