BALTIMORE (AP) - Officials say heavy rains have caused flooding in parts of Maryland.

Baltimore County officials say there are about six inches of water in some roads on Millers Island, affecting access to about a half dozen houses. Fire crews are monitoring the area.

Stormy weather is forcing cancellation of the Great Frederick Fair in Frederick for the rest of Tuesday.

Fair officials announced the closing after the National Weather Service posted flash flood and severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado watch for the area.

Police in Washington County reported several traffic accidents Tuesday morning on roads made slick by heavy rain. One of the accidents sent a driver to the hospital.

Severe storm warnings remained in effect for much of the state Tuesday afternoon.
