WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - Jodi Grant of Bethesda has multiple fractures, lacerations and broken teeth--this after she was run or thrown off the road by a van that suddenly appeared in her lane on Massachusetts Avenue at Cromwell Drive last Friday.
Grant is executive director of the Afterschool Alliance, an educational nonprofit in downtown D.C. She isn't your typical weekend amateur biker. Grant owns three high-end bikes. She averages about 100 miles per week in her commutes to work, weekend rides with friends and racing events.
The driver who plowed into her is still at large. Montgomery County police are investigating and would certainly like to talk with this person--and any witnesses.
Jodi Grant wants her accident to be the beginning of a dialogue between motorists and bikers---"we need to share the roads", she says.
Its unclear if and when she will ever ride again. She's got plenty of biker friends who are waiting to help her get back out there.
