UPDATE: Final stages of clean up are underway at the fiery, fatal truck crash that happened early Wednesday morning in Fairfax County, Va. Police say that exit 166B, which is the entrance ramp to Route 286 north, and the ramp from south Route 286 to Route 1 should be re-opened to traffic by noon on Wednesday.

Police say the 59-year-old driver, Edwin H. Hall, of Charles Town, W.Va., died at the scene and that his body has been transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner nearby for examination and autopsy.

Officials say the cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time, but that the tanker truck was fully loaded with 9,000 gallons of fuel.

NEWINGTON, Va. (WUSA) -- A fiery tanker crash on northbound I-95 has left one person dead in Fairfax County, Va. All of I-95 north reopened to traffic hours after the crash but the ramps remain closed.

Fairfax County officials say they first received a report of a vehicle fire on northbound I-95 around 2:12 Wednesday morning. It took four foam units to eventually put out the stubborn flames fueled by the tankers contents, which spilled from the wreckage and pooled in a second location which also caught fire.

Once the flames were extinguished, crews worked to contain the hazardous materials that spilled from the tanker. That's when they discovered the driver's body inside the cab of the tanker's wreckage.

The Virginia State Police are investigating the incident.

Exit 166B, the entrance ramp to Route 286 northbound, and the ramp from south Route 286 to Route 1 are closed.

The identity of the driver has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
