WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Tropical Storm Isaac is being tracked by 9 News Now mobile unit.

Scott Broom continues heading south, now near Alabama in our newest mobile storm chasing technology, capable of tracking a big storm like Isaac. 

The unit is equipped with cameras that allow the reporter to talk to viewers hands-free while driving and that record what's on the road.

It uses mobile broadband technology to broadcast, like the technology that runs smartphones but on a much bigger scale.

Scott Broom's motto: "News does not happen in the newsroom, you have to be mobile."

He will join journalists on the Gulf Coast to bring the latest information as Isaac makes landfall.
