WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A makeshift memorial has formed at the Air & Space Museum after visitors learned of Neil Armstrong's death.
The family of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, confirms that he's passed away at the age of 82. Armstrong underwent heart-bypass surgery earlier this month.
As commander of the Apollo 11 mission, Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the moon on July 20, 1969. As he stepped on the dusty surface, Armstrong said: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
Ken Molestina is at the Air & Space Museum for reaction to this American hero's passing.
