WASHINGTON, DC (CBS) -- More parents than ever are buying school supplies online. But stores don't want to lose their foot traffic. So, some of them are coming up with new ways to lure people off their computers and onto their store floors.
JC Penney is one of those retailers.
It offered free haircuts to get shoppers into the store. And, the hope is that parents will spend on items that aren't on the school list.
Back to School is the second biggest spending event of the year, according to the National Retail Federation. It's eclipsed only by Christmas and Black Friday.
