Georgetown M&T Attempted Bank Robber Cut Into Wall Of Building Next Door, Say DC Police

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- D.C. police say someone cut into the wall of a building next door that was under construction to gain access to a room of the bank at 1420 Wisconsin Ave. in Georgetown on Friday morning.

Police responded to an alarm activation at approximately 2:08 a.m. and when they arrived the found the cut in the wall. They believe the target was the ATM, but no money was removed.

Police say surveillance video showed someone in a white Tyvek suit and a blue baseball hat.

D.C. police and FBI are processing the scene.

The FBI says this is the third D.C. bank break-in it is investigating.  The two other break-ins happened on August 17, 2012 and May 24, 2011 at the Bank of America at 2631 Connecticut Ave.
