FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- A Virginia state trooper was struck by a drunk driver while in his patrol car early Saturday morning.
Police say Trooper K.S. Fleenor had pulled behind a tow truck along I-495 in Fairfax County at Tysons Corner, to aid the tow truck while it was removing a vehicle involved in a crash.
That's when an Oldsmobile driven by 30-year-old Christina Hirt of Alexandria, Va. rear-ended the patrol car.
Trooper Fleenor and the tow truck driver were both treated and released at Fairfax Inova Hospital for injures they sustained in the accident.
Hirt, who refused medical treatment at the scene, was charged with DUI.
