BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ/WUSA) -- A deadly tractor trailer crash in the northbound lanes of I-95 in Baltimore created some traffic delays for commuters on Friday morning.
Kevin Cartwright, spokesman for the Baltimore City Fire Department, says a tractor trailer hauling a load of lumber struck a barrier that separates I-95 and I-395 before 11:00 Thursday night. The violent force of the collision ruptured the truck's diesel saddle tanks and the vehicle burst into flames.
Several fire and rescue units responded to the scene and crews quickly shut down I-95 in both directions while they fought the blaze. Cartwright confirms the body of the driver was found inside the cab after the flames were brought under control.
The identity of the driver has not been released.
The northbound lanes of I-95 have reopened.
