FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (WUSA) -- Maryland State Police say a driver who died in a multi-vehicle crash on I-270 on Sunday was responsible for the collision.
Sixty-year-old Tracy Anne Reuschel was driving her Subaru Impreza an Sunday afternoon on southbound I-270 north of Bennett Creek when she drove into the rear of a tractor trailer in the right hand lane, say Maryland State Police.
Witnesses told authorities the Subaru was traveling fast before crashing into the back of the tractor trailer. Troopers believe speed was a factor in the collision.
Police believe Tracy Reuschel was killed instantly, but her husband, 64-year-old James Henry Reuschel was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma in serious condition. Reuschel passed away on Tuesday from his injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer, who is from Hampton, Va., was not injured.
Toxicology results are still pending.
