FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- Thursday could have been an off-day for Bryce Harper. Following a 10-day, three city road trip, it probably should have been a day of relaxation on his couch.

By now I guess we should learn, Harper doesn't take days off.

The 19-year-old strolled up to his first very own local baseball clinic -- going on five hours of sleep and sporting a 1924 Washington Senators cap. His presence alone probably had most of the campers thinking it was Christmas, and even some of the parents in the stands.

"I love going out and seeing little leaguers play and doing things for the community," Harper told reporters Thursday morning. "Coming into D.C. and really trying to do things for this town, for this city and for the kids, it's obviously a lot of fun. I have a blast out here with everybody."

Harper conveyed several messages to the young baseball players, ages 6-14. Have fun, play all different kinds of sports, and also, look good while you are doing it.

"They were asking me, 'What my favorite food is' stuff like that. I just them to have fun and be as sexy as they can. And that's the biggest thing," said a laughing Harper, who additionally joked with some of the older campers about pretending to play in front of "20 hot girls."

The Nationals have become a fixture in the national media -- more so because of the Strasburg innings limit, rather than the team's glowing record. Harper was hesitant to make any prediction about the way the Nats season may unfold, but he has high hopes.

"I think it's going to be a lot of fun for the next ten years. I think having a team like we have, and an organization like we have -- we have a team that can really produce," spoke the Nationals rookie outfielder.

Finally, Harper wasn't able to finagle himself out of answering at least one question about Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

"I'd love to [meet him]. He's got a lot of swag out there, and he knows how to play the game. It's fun to watch."
